About Murphy Salisbury

The way we work

Nobody said running a business is easy and although it can be rewarding it can also bring unique challenges.

At Murphy Salisbury, we have been taking good care of every kind of business client for over 40 years. When you appoint us as your accountants, you can be sure of high-quality accountancy, business consultancy and taxation services, delivered by a skilled and experienced team.

We offer our clients the very best that a traditional accountancy firm has to offer, combined with total commitment to adding value to your business.

When you become our client, it is like having another member of the team – an extra pair of hands and an extra pair of eyes to help you to operate more efficiently and cost-effectively.

We will take care of your financial and administrative responsibilities and provide expert advice, giving you the time and resources to focus on building your business and your profitability.

At the key stages of your business life – starting up, acquisitions, mergers, takeovers, selling up, retirement – we will advise and support you, making things happen more quickly and easily to help you achieve maximum benefit.

Getting to know you, your business and your goals means we can focus our advice and services on helping you get to where you want to go.

When you have a problem, it always helps to talk it over, so when you have a business problem, it makes sense to talk to someone who understands the way things work in the business world.

Murphy Salisbury – always accountable to you

When you join our firm you will receive a tailored, transparent service with complete accountability.

  • The work we do for you will be the responsibility of a designated director.

  • Your first point of contact within the team will be a designated client services manager in our audit or business services departments.

  • The skills of the team assigned to you will be designed to meet your specific business needs.

  • This director will oversee the advice and services provided to you on a day-to-day basis by an expert team.

  • OR a designated tax professional in our tax department. By working in this way, you can be sure of ongoing understanding and continuity in the way we support you.

  • But we can also draw on the expertise of other members of our firm where appropriate.

If you are interested in becoming our client but already have an accountant,
you will find the process of joining us is much easier than you might think.

Switching to Murphy Salisbury really is as easy as one, two, three!
We make the process simple, straightforward and speedy.

Step 1

You notify your previous accountant that you are going to appoint Murphy Salisbury as your new accountant.

To help you, here is an example of the type of letter you should send to your previous accountant which you can download here.

Example letter

Step 2

We will then write to your previous accountant asking if there are any professional reasons why they do not accept our appointment.

At the same time, we will ask for details of your latest Balance Sheet information and any outstanding matters which need to be taken into account.

Step 3

We will verify your identity by asking for your full name, date of birth and address details for the last two years. In some cases, we may also need to see your original passport or driving licence.

Once we have received a professional clearance letter from any previous accountant and anti-money laundering checks have been carried out, we will issue you with a letter of engagement. This sets out the services we have agreed to undertake on your behalf.

Once you have received this letter and checked you are happy with the content, you simply sign the Appointment Acceptance pages and return these to us. A countersigned copy will then be sent to you for your own records.

Form 64-8 allows us to act as your agents for accounting and tax services and is supplied to HMRC. You will be provided with this form to sign with our Letter of Engagement.

We will also ask you periodically for information on your income, shares, property etc. so that we can complete your tax returns and accounting information on your behalf.
